This activity requires the students to find the definition and importance of their vocabulary word. They must pick out the main idea as it relates to their word and add it to their patch on the quilt.
2. The main idea activities found at this website are great for younger students. They are also great for introducing the concept of main idea.
3. Sort the students into groups and give each student a short passage and have him/her underline the main idea of the passage in one color and the supporting details in another color. Once each student has completed their activity have the group come back together and compare.
